Harmony United Church Council

Update May 30, 2025

We are guided by our mission statement:
At Harmony United Church, we strive to follow the Way of Christ through thoughtful worship and compassionate community, as we seek peace and justice for all creation.

Here are a few highlights from Council’s Thursday, May 22 meeting.

Taking Care of Business

Council unanimously approved the governance structure and role descriptions as recommended by the former Joint Amalgamation Team in two separate documents, version dates Nov. 2024, with the understanding that these structures and role descriptions may require adjustments ongoing as needed.

Dreams into Action

On the morning of Saturday May 31, several representatives of our community will participate in a strategic planning workshop to continue shaping our future. Building on the input from many of you at worship services over the past year, and also building on the activities we now support, we look forward to further clarity and focus on what Harmony United Church is all about.

Sponsoring Refugees

Through a motion, discussion and vote, Council unanimously approved our faith community’s sponsorship of a family to come to Canada. This may involve the participation of other Regina area United Churches. Jim or other Council members have more details to share if you’re curious, or if this is a project you would like to support.

More Specifics for Donations

With Treasurer Denelle Hansen’s support, we have adjusted line items in our budget to more specifically track financial gifts for our varied projects. Supporters may specify that you wish your donation to be targeted for such priorities as Mission & Service Fund, Capital Projects, Refugee Fund, Social Justice and Food Security (one example of that is the Saturday Interfaith Lunch hosted downtown). Donations not specified go into our general operating fund or Council may decide where funds are needed.
